Microsoft Word - Tip # 3: Keyboard Shortcuts
Click here to open a pdf document which lists a variety of shortcut keys that can be used in Microsoft Word for the following:
- Selecting and editing Text.
- Moving around a document.
- Files - including opening, closing, moving to another open file.
- Font formatting.
- Paragraph formatting.
The following are two VERY useful formatting keys in Microsoft Word ...
- CTRL + SPACEBAR:
Removes manual font formats. Example - for text that is formatted as bold, italics, font size 15pt,
to remove the formats all in one go - select the text, then press CTRL + SPACEBAR.
- CTRL + Q:
Removes manual paragraph formats. Example - for a paragraph that is formatted as outside border,
centred, left and right indents at 1", to remove the formats all in one go - Click within the paragraph, then
press
CTRL + Q.
(Note for those who use 'styles': the above actions essentially revert font/paragraph formatting back to that of the style,
e.g. normal, heading1.)
